Taking Back Sunday - Taking Back Sunday (2011)

Sunday, July 10, 2011 · Posted in

Taking Back Sunday‘s new self-titled album was released on June 28th. This album definitely has the Taking Back Sunday sound, whereas their last album lost a bit of that.  I was expecting 'Taking Back Sunday' to be a disappointment however it turns out to be a thorough rock record with a strong sense of consistency with numerous highlights.

The opening track is full of energetic emotion with screaming vocals which quite reminds me of Brand New. Taking Back Sunday was always divisive, given that its lyrical quality was never too poetic. The band’s newfound sense of energy isn’t exerted through searing riffs or coarse screams. On their self-titled fifth LP, that passion is poured straight into the songwriting, which is more memorable and consistently catchy than it has ever been.

Their most tracks seem to stand at odds with the old and new sound, there are some that actually get it right without little friction.  The band also blends some soft, melodic verses and keyboard solos with shouting choruses in tracks.

In short, this is a great CD to throw on when you're looking for something to blast and sing along to on a summer road trip or on your way down the shore. Kudos to Taking Back Sunday for not taking the easy way out. They've created an exciting, challenging album that feels like a new beginning and a culmination of prior work all at once.

We The Kings - Sunshine State of Mind

· Posted in

WE THE KINGS just released their third studio album 'Sunshine State Of Mind' on July 12th.

Sunshine State of Mind is more about summer love.  All the songs are lovestruck and summer-lovey. This is very much a different band to the one who took us to 'Skyway Avenue' and pleaded with us to 'Stay Young'.

Here are the list of their track on Sunshine State of Mind :
01) Friday is Forever
02) Say You Like Me
03) Every Single Dollar
04) The View From Here
05) The Secret to New York
06) Sleep With Me
07) Over You
08) Kiss Me Last
09) Somebody to Call My Own
10) You and Only You

With the opening two tracks both beginning with acoustic guitar, it also confirms that all notions of We The Kings being a pop-punk band have been dispensed with.

The catchiest chorus on the record, 'Say You Like Me' contains a light, airy vibe that hints at the type of reggae-tinged pop. It got a beachy, summer playlist feel to it.

We The Kings' 'Smile Kid' was sure a sign of the quartet's decline, even that album was able to satisfy by consistently delivering upbeat hooks and catchy choruses. But 'Sunshine State of Mind' has no such luck however, with very little sticking in the mind at all. But after all, Travis Clark still have the effortless charming vocals. It makes this album is still worth to have for. What do you think ?

Plain White T's New Video "Boomerang"

Thursday, April 14, 2011 · Posted in

Fresh off of their US tour, pop-rockers Plain White T's premiere the video for their new single 'Boomerang.'

The catchy jam about not being able to resist coming back to the one that threw you away is Plain White T's second single from their sixth studio album 'Wonders of the Younger'.

Amidst colorful confetti, balloons and jerky stop-motion footage the band takes a lighthearted approach to being jerked around by a lover. "You pull me in close/ You throw me away/ I keep coming back like a boomerang/ You tell me to go/ You beg me to stay/ I keep coming back like a boomerang," frontman Tom Higgenson sings as he spins around on a revolving stage.

We The Kings just released their brand-new single, 'Friday Is Forever,' from their as-yet-untitled fourth album next week, but you got a hold of the track four days early for you to listen to on AOL music blog.

The uplifting, sunny, feel-good tune is all about living and loving in the moment. "'Friday Is Forever' captures everything that our fans have loved about WTK -- catchy melodies, upbeat music, and sing-a-long lyrics,"

According to Clark, the new single is a well-rounded representation of the the band. "'Friday Is Forever' captures everything that our fans have loved about WTK ... catchy melodies, upbeat music, and sing-a-long lyrics," he says.

The song will be featured on We the Kings' as-yet-untitled third album. On Wednesday, Travis posted a video on YouTube, telling fans that the record would be due out this summer.

'Friday Is Forever' will be available on iTunes on April 12, but you can listen to it below. Are you into the new song? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Cardiology of the Charlottes

Monday, November 15, 2010 · Posted in

Good Charlotte, the Maryland band’s was just released their new album "Cardiology" on November 2nd via Capitol Records.

The album cover depicts a heart symbolizing the theme of album which front-man Benji Madden explained as songs that are “all connected to the heart.

I have just listened to their whole songs and manage to write part of my thoughts about their new album here.

The album, from start to end, it is an enjoyable solid record that should appeal to anyone that loves great music. Cardiology is a personal mature record. It is sincere. Each track represents what you feel in your heart in your daily life (family, relationship, romantic, adventures etc.).

My first impression was good when I heard Like its her birthday  that announced the truth about Cardiology. This guitar-fuelled Like It's Her Birthday starts heading down a darker path, with questions of infidelity, before it turns into a sweet feel-good tune about finding your girlfriend uninhibited on the dance floor for the first time.

After all, This album is simply remarkable and deep. Every individual song is worth playing. The whole album is a must have and listen. No need to skip. The tracks manage to touch you and keep you interesting. The tunes work great and are unified. From start to end, the band keep the songs upbeat and enjoyable. Hard to choose favorite songs because there are plenty of standout track on this album. Lot of energy and hook chorus.

Well, this lovestruck collection is a welcome return to form that should restore fans' faith in the band.

Travis Barker - Jump Down

Here it is !
Travis Barker from Blink 182 released his first single from his upcoming solo album. The track 'Jump Down', is featuring The Cool Kids.

Though I feel that his drumming is more into a genre that most of the time consists of looped beats and computer generated sounds, I still found this song fascinating. :D

Go grab his song for free HERE.
